NETS Global Tracking Solutions Review

New Edge Technology Solutions, Inc. (NETS) is a technology solutions provider that offers two new personnel tracking and pinpoint location devices, the VLD1000 and PLD1000, with GPS tracking and location updates available in just seconds without the use of a cell phone system. These tracking devices are useful for fire, police, military, homeland security and search and rescue personnel who are constantly engaging in critical activities.

A fully self-contained GPS transponder, the VLD1000 vehicle locator device, allows its users to locate and keep track of assets such as vehicles and equipment. This device operates in the UHF 450-470 MHz frequency band and can communicate as far as 50 miles, depending on terrain.

The VLD1000 also provides flexible reporting by being programmed to transmit position and status reports to pre-set time intervals when speed has been exceeded, it has moved a certain distance, and/or when an I/O changes. Also featured on this device is the ability to act as a repeater by "store-and-forwarding" data received from other systems, which provides a wider area of coverage.

Also available is the PLD1000 personal locator device which allows users to quickly locate and keep track of their most critical assets: their highly trained and professional personnel. The completely self-contained, portable and light weight transponder includes built-in rechargeable batteries and has some of the lowest power-consumption numbers in the industry.

One of the most important features of the PLD1000 is its "man down" alarm. "A radio with a GPS in it isn't going to tell anybody that you fell down a cliff, got knocked down, or incapacitated," explains CTO Rodney Long with NETS, Inc. "This unit, when it goes flat, horizontal, after 30 seconds will send a manual 'man down' alarm to the command center."

This device is also fully compatible with the VLD1000 vehicle locator device, which allows complete tracking of vehicles and personnel, along with any other assets, in real time, all within one system.

As the data from either system is sent back to base, it can be broken down into groups. All data is stored on a single server database, so information about where a vehicle or incident was can be retrieved and then shared across multiple platforms.

"If I just want to look at fire trucks, I can filter that out. Another guy can look at ambulances. So it's not all on one screen. And it's all networkable. We can interface to Google Earth. We can interface to Microsoft Map Points. So you're not tied to any one platform," states Long.

There are quite a few other valuable features that both New Edge systems provide. Unlike any other tracking systems, the VLD1000 and PLD1000's position and status updates are available as quickly as every second. Both systems are equipped with everything needed to track an asset and no secondary devices such as Internet, cell-services, FPRS, Edge, SMS or satellite services are needed. Because external services are not required, there are no recurring costs involved with either system.

Due to the fact that both New Edge systems do not rely on public wireless services, both systems work in rural areas, mines, mountains, oceans, deserts and foreign countries. All activities of the PLD1000 and VLD1000 are easily visualized by the New Edge View1000 mapping console, which can display mapping locations in not only 2-dimensions, but 3-dimensions as well. The data and position reports for both systems are 128-bit AES encrypted. Each unit has a security key and if a unit is lost of stolen, the key is irretrievable.
