Cardiac Science is a company which focuses on noninvasive ways to manage the world's leading cause of death - heart disease - and has engineered a line of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED's) to help both citizens and first responders to save lives.

The most basic AED offered by Cardiac Science is the Powerheart AED G3, which retails at $1,500 per unit.  "This particular device is for the absolute lay user with no medical training what-so-ever. We do have another variation of the Powerheart G3, which we call the Pro, which is now for the ALS responders," states Enrique Christopherson, a Sales Representative with Cardiac Science.

What makes this device so unique is the Rescue Coach™ intuitive voice prompts that easily guide the rescuer through the rescue process and provide step-by-step instructions when someone has suffered cardiac arrest.

The Powerheart AED G3 device searches for ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation (any other symptoms will not be detected by the device) and delivers defibrillating shock only when appropriate, with no buttons to press.

Whether or not a shock needs to be administered is determined by patented RHYTHMx software, which detects the patient's heart rhythm.

All Powerheart AED's also feature a text screen which displays text for loud environments, or for hearing impaired rescuers.

RescueReady defibrillator technology is equipped in this device which self-tests all main components daily including the battery, hardware, software, and pads. Powerheart Automatic Defibrillators complete a partial charge of the high-voltage electronics weekly, and a full charge monthly.

A 7-year warranty on the AED and 4-year full battery operational replacement guarantee are included in the purchase of a Powerheart AED G3 device.

According to Christopherson, Cardiac Science has a 74% successful rescue rate with their AED's in the San Diego, California area alone with 64 lives to testify for that.
