1 Occupant Safely Removed from Suffolk Blaze, No Injuries
Suffolk Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a structure fire in the 110 block of Chestnut Street in downtown Suffolk on November 4, 2011. The report of fire to the single family residence was received at 12:36 p.m.

Market Street is currently closed to thru traffic from Pine Street to North Street.T

he single family home was fully engulfed upon arrival of Suffolk Fire and Rescue, who quickly brought the fire under control.

One occupant was safely removed from the house, and no injuries were reported. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.

UPDATE:
Market Street has reopened to thru traffic. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A new partnership has been formed between the University of California San Diego, CAL FIRE, and San Diego County that is helping CAL FIRE/San Diego County FIre Authority to monitor the rural areas of San Diego, California for wildfires. The project, known as FireSite, is using webcams to show firefighters, Incident Commanders and dispatchers a real time, 360 degree view of areas that were previously difficult to view.
