Two Injured in Corona Plane Crash
April 14, 2011 A single-engine plane crashed at the Corona Municipal Airport in the 1900 block of Aviation. Just before 9:00 a.m. Monday, firefighters arrived to find the small plane with its nose into a hangar. According to the Corona Fire Department, both the pilot and passenger had been removed from the wreckage before firefighters arrived. Fire crews were able to stop a small fuel leak without incident. Both occupants were transported, at different times, to a local hospital. According to witnesses, the plane was attempting to land and may have veered suddenly into the hangar. Firefighters returned several hours later to assist the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in removing the aircraft from the hangar. The accident is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board. Author:Barbara Brooks - Fire Department Network News
