Two 12-year old juveniles were arrested late Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Family Dollar Store located at 3870 Linwood Ave in Shreveport, Louisiana.  They were both charged with Manufacture and Possession of Delayed Action Incendiary Devices. (Acid Bombs).  There were no injuries or property damage.

The two juveniles allegedly went into the store and bought the materials needed to construct the Acid Bombs and set one off in the parking lot of the store and a trash can near the entrance of the store. The juveniles then re-entered the store to purchase more materials to construct another device. At that time, Family Dollar employees contacted the Shreveport Police Department and the juveniles were held in custody until a Shreveport Fire Department Investigator arrived on scene and charged the two youths under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:54.2.

The Statute states: It shall be unlawful for any person, without proper license to knowingly and intentionally possess or have under his control any instrument, device, chemical or explosive substance which is arranged, manufactured, mixed, or so made up as to be a device or substance which, when exposed to heat, humidity, air, or foreign elements, will after prolongation of time burst into flame, ignite, cause to be ignited, or explode.  Whoever violates this Section shall be fined not more than ten thousand dollars or be imprisoned at hard labor for not more than twenty years, or both.
