85 Homes Burn in Detroit

At least 85 homes in Detroit, Michigan burned to the ground over a four hour period Tuesday. Some of those structures were vacant, but some were occupied.

Winds gusting up to 50 miles per hour knocked down power lines which caused some of the dozens of fires. The winds also helped to spread the flames that burned buildings, homes, garages and nearly one city block.

With so many fires, fire department resources were stretched thin. Some fire companies were also closed due to budget cuts.
