Anne Arundel County Fire Department Announces Promotions

Tuesday, December 20, 2011 marked a milestone for five (5) members of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. At this time, Fire Chief John Robert Ray honored these members who were promoted to the Rank of Lieutenant within the Department at an official ceremony acknowledging their years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice.   

"I am very proud of the accomplishments of these five individuals and the unwavering dedication that they have shown to the citizens of Anne Arundel County" said County Executive John R. Leopold. "This is a major step for these individuals who will now have supervisory responsibilities' over other emergency responders in our Department" said Fire Chief John Robert Ray.

The following are the names and new ranks of the Department personnel who are being honored:

A new partnership has been formed between the University of California San Diego, CAL FIRE, and San Diego County that is helping CAL FIRE/San Diego County FIre Authority to monitor the rural areas of San Diego, California for wildfires. The project, known as FireSite, is using webcams to show firefighters, Incident Commanders and dispatchers a real time, 360 degree view of areas that were previously difficult to view.
