Arizona Hobble Fire Continues to Burn

The Hobble Fire continues to grow 18 miles northeast of Williams, Arizona near the Hobble Mountains, according to a US Forest Service news release.

The fire began as a result of lightning and has consumed approximately 176 acres, and is moving at a moderate pace to the north and east of its origin.

US Forest Service officials have designated a 58,000-acre area where the fire will be managed for resource objectives in the coming weeks.  Some of these objectives include protecting wildlife habitats and performing fire fuel reduction.

Over the past few days, firefighters have been fighting the wildfire and have scouted the area to identify any actions that may need to be taken to prevent the fire from spreading in the designated 58,000 acres.  Because weather forecasts have shown dry and breezy conditions, fire crews are expecting fire activity to increase.

The US Forest Service warns hunters and campers that the fire is burning in Game Management Unit 7W, a popular recreation area.  Visitors must be aware of the personnel and equipment working in the area as well as the smoke condition.
