Arson is suspected in an overnight house fire on November 11, 2011 that caused substantial damage to the building, according to the Temple Terrace Fire Department.

The fire occurred at 404 Joyce Ave., Temple Terrace, just minutes after midnight (00:03 hours). Neighbors reported a fire at the residence.

The fire appeared suspicious, said Temple Terrace Fire Chief Keith Chapman. The home was vacant and has been for sale for some time, he said. Because no one was living there, there was no electrical service to the building.

Nearly 20 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was extinguished in about 10 minutes, Chapman said. Damage was estimated at around $40,000.

Tampa Fire Rescue and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue assisted the Temple Terrace Fire Department. The state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire, Chapman said.

Anyone who may have information about this fire should call (813) 989-7110. There is a reward of up to $5,000 for a tip that leads to an arrest.
