Barranca Fire Near Entrance to Camino Real Park Attacked by Ventura City Firefighters
Ventura City Firefighters responded to a report of a barranca fire near the entrance to Camino Real Park on December 11, 2011.

When they arrived they discovered a growing fire moving from the ground up into taller eucalyptus trees. Quick actions prevented the fire from gaining a hold in the treetops and becoming more substantial.

Firefighter’s utilized a firefighting foam agent to extinguish the fire by helping the water penetrate the heavy layer of vegetation in the barranca. The fire was kept to approximately 50’ x 50’ in size.

No injuries were reported and a damage estimate was not made. The park was open at the time of the fire however no responsible person was identified. No cause was determined, and electrical lines were not involved.
