Blythe Accident Injures One
Eight firefighters with CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department responded to a one-car traffic accident in Blythe, California Wednesday morning. The car was found teetering on a canal in the 1000 block of C/D Boulevard, said Melody Hendrickson, a spokeswoman for the department.   

The driver was alone and had to be extricated from the vehicle and then airlifted in critical condition to a local trauma center.

A new partnership has been formed between the University of California San Diego, CAL FIRE, and San Diego County that is helping CAL FIRE/San Diego County FIre Authority to monitor the rural areas of San Diego, California for wildfires. The project, known as FireSite, is using webcams to show firefighters, Incident Commanders and dispatchers a real time, 360 degree view of areas that were previously difficult to view.
