Brush Fire Burns 25 Acres In Hawaii
Approximately 25 acres of state land burned this afternoon in a brushfire that broke out at around 2:14 pm off Kekaha Rd. near mile marker four. Fire fighters remain at the scene and are putting out hotspots. No one has been injured and no structures were threatened. Engine 7, Truck 7, Engine 6, Truck 6, Truck 5, Rescue 3 and Air 1responded to the fire. In addition, two county water tankers, one Gay & Robinson water tanker and several state fire fighters provided assistance. Following the outbreak of the fire, Kaua'i police closed a portion of Kekaha Rd., and redirected traffic to and from Koke'e to Waimea Canyon Drive. The fire was deemed under control at 3:43 pm. The cause of the fire is undetermined. With the dry season upon us, fire officials are asking residents and visitors to exercise extreme caution.
