April 18, 2011

Firefighters in Clark County, Nevada worked for almost 20 hours Saturday on an out of control brush fire that began in a homeless camp. The blaze burned more than 80 acres in the area of Wetlands Park near the University of Nevada Las Vegas' (UNLV) Sam Boyd Stadium.

Thick black smoke could be seen all over the Las Vegas Valley as crews from Clark County Fire Department, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Forestry Department, National Parks Service, Nevada Division of Forestry and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue (LVFR) worked under a unified command to extinguish the blaze.

There were no injuries reported and the investigation into the fire remains active.
