CAL FIRE Investigators Arrest 15 Year Old Male Juvenile for Setting Fire to Classroom

CAL FIRE Investigators arrested a 15-year old male juvenile shortly before midnight on January 8th, 2012 for allegedly burglarizing and setting fire to a classroom at the Creekside Elementary School earlier the same evening.

Two additional juveniles are also being sought for questioning. The suspect was transported to Riverside County Juvenile Hall where he was booked on multiple charges including burglary, arson and resisting arrest.

The 2-alarm response, which included 45 CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters quickly contained the fire from spreading to other classrooms of the 8-unit building at the school. Damages are estimated at $500,000.

Anyone with information on suspicious activity at the Creekside Elementary School at 13563 Heacock Street in Moreno Valley on January 8th, 2012 is urged to call the Riverside County Arson Hotline at (800) 633-2836. All calls are anonymous and confidential.

A new partnership has been formed between the University of California San Diego, CAL FIRE, and San Diego County that is helping CAL FIRE/San Diego County FIre Authority to monitor the rural areas of San Diego, California for wildfires.
