CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Authority Assists With Hoist Rescue of Hiker
CAL FIRE/ Riverside County Fire Department assisted with an air rescue in Crazy Horse Canyon in Aguanga, California on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at approximately 12:00 p.m. A male hiker became ill while traveling through Crazy Horse Canyon and required medical assistance. Three engines, one squad, and twelve firefighters from CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department, along with an American Medical Response Ambulance were dispatched to the Canyon, according to Jody Hagemann, a CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson. It was determined that the patient needed to be rescued and airlifted, and San Diego Copter 10 was called in for assistance. At approximately 1:55 p.m., the victim was hoist-rescued from Crazy Horse Canyon, and was transported via Mercy Air to an area hospital in moderate to serious condition.
