Canine Search Teams Respond To Fatal Truck Accident
Two National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (SDF) search teams were deployed Tuesday to an accident in Santa Barbara, California involving a tractor-trailer that slammed into a residence, according to the SDF.

Just before 7 a.m. the truck pulling two trailers loaded with gravel lost control coming down a steep grade. The truck hit the residence, completely demolishing it. Three family members were killed in the accident but emergency crews believed there was a fourth member of the family inside the destroyed home. Search teams Eric Gray & Riley and Linda Tacconelli & Joe responded to search the rubble.

According to SDF, Riley searched and was able to confirm to rescuers there were no live victims in the wreckage. Crews found out later the fourth family member had left the home before the accident.

Although this was not a large-scale disaster, it shows the value of FEMA Certified Search Teams in making sure no victims are left behind.
