The Cowboy Fire in San Diego County, California has burned 827 acres and is at 84% containment, according to CAL FIRE San Diego FIre Authority.  Incident Commanders expect that the fire will be fully contained by this evening, and predict that it will be under complete control by Monday, September 6th or Tuesday, September 7th.

The fire began September 2, 2010 at 1:13 p.m., when two illegal immigrants became lost and lit a signal fire in an attempt to get help after two days of wandering in Southern California's brush and becoming dehydrated, according to CAL FIRE San Diego Fire Authority officials.  The two men called C4, Mexico's emergency dispatch system, and informed them of their situation and that they would be lighting the fire.  Mexican officials relayed this information to the U.S. Border Patrol.  The two men are still at large after unsuccessful search attempts by the U.S. Border Patrol and CAL FIRE; however, CAL FIRE and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service investigators have found evidence of illegal immigrant activity in the area of the fire's origin to support this.

CAL FIRE reports that today's weather will be between 90 and 100 degrees, with a wind speed between 10 and 20 mph with 15% relative humidity.

Two firefighters have been injured battling the wildfire and currently the cost of fighting the fire is at $1,879,280.
