CAL FIRE San Diego Fire Authority reports that the Cowboy Fire is 95% contained as of 8 a.m. Monday morning.  Firefighters from CAL FIRE San Diego Fire Authority and the U.S. Forest Service have battled the blaze since September 2nd, and have thus far been able to contain the fire to 827 acres.

The fire started when two illegal immigrants began a signal fire after becoming lost in the brush of San Diego County, California.  The two men informed Mexico's C4 emergency line of their situation and intent to start the fire, and Mexican officials alerted the U.S. Border Patrol.  Although the U.S. Border Patrol and CAL FIRE were unable to locate the men, evidence near the fire's origin supported the story.

Since then hundreds of firefighters, hotshot crews, and equipment from CAL FIRE San Diego Fire Authority and the US Forest service have worked tirelessly to contain the fire.  Yesterday CAL FIRE officials predicted attaining full control of the fire by Tuesday.
