The Post Fire continues to burn in the Los Padres National Forest in Kern County, California. According to the Kern County Fire Department (KCFD) there was minimal fire activity overnight which allowed crews to work through the night making excellent progress constructing firelines and conducting mop up operations. Crews will continue this work today.

The fire, which began Tuesday afternoon, has burned 1,000 acres and is 63 percent contained. Currently, there are no structures threatened and none have been destroyed.

There are 938 fire personnel on scene working under unified command of the California Interagency Incident Management Team 4 and the KCFD. Currently there are 70 engines, nine water tenders, two dozers, 33 hand crews and five helicopters assigned to the fire. As containment efforts continue to be successful, personnel and equipment will be demobilized, according to KCFD.

There have been no injuries reported but with the extremely hot and dry conditions firefighters are taking precautions to avoid dehydration and other heat related illnesses. Temperatures in the 90's are expected again today with afternoon thunderstorms possible in the area.

There are no evacuation orders at this time and all schools that were closed yesterday are in normal session today.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
