Everyone Goes Home Program and Fireman's Fund Insurance Announce Video Contest
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation's Everyone Goes Home program has partnered with Fireman's Fund Insurance for the Everyone Goes Home Safety Video Contest. Departments of any size can submit a video based on at least one of the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives. The two departments with the most outstanding videos will be awarded a Bullard T4 Max Thermal Imager to further enhance the safety of their department, according to a news release from Everyone Goes Home. An honorable mention winner will also receive a special acknowledgment for their video. The 16 Firefighter Life Initiatives were developed in 2004 to reduce preventable firefighter line-of-duty deaths and injuries. In 2005, the Everyone Goes Home program was developed to give firefighters tools to reduce death and injury and to promote a culture of safety. As a result, there has been a decline in the number of preventable line-of-duty deaths. In 2009, for the first time in more than ten years, the number of line-of-duty deaths dropped below 100. Entries must be postmarked by May 7, 2010. Videos should be from three to five minutes in length and focus on training, health and safety, and risk reduction. Video submissions will be reviewed based on the official contest rules and judged for their quality of content rather than production quality, according to the Everyone Goes Home program. All videos received become the property of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Videos may be featured on the Everyone Goes Home website at the sole discretion of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
