CMJ Underwriters and the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company have partnered to award a $17,860 grant to the FDNY on Friday, June 3, 11 a.m. at the quarters of Engine 58/Ladder 26 in Manhattan for the purchase of a forcible entry simulator, exercise equipment and tools to enhance the training of its members.

The forcible entry simulator consists of doors attached to steel columns on a portable base which allows firefighters to train on gaining access to locked doors in an emergency.  Grant funds will also be used for power tools to help clean and better maintain existing firehouse tools and apparatus, as well as A/V equipment firefighters can use to improve drills and other training.  Additionally, this grant will be used for the purchase of flashlights to aid firefighters when searching a smoke filled room.  Finally, grant funds will be used for a treadmill, elliptical trainer and exercise bike to keep firefighters physically fit.

"This generous donation will enhance the training our members receive every day," said Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano.  "It's once again shows that Fireman's Fund is a true friend to the FDNY."

Since December 2006, Fireman's Fund has awarded the FDNY over $470,000.  This is the fourth grant directed to the FDNY by CMJ Underwriters.
