FDNY Unveils New Mobile Training Vehicle
The FDNY unveiled a state-of-the-art Mobile Training Vehicle (MTV-1) on Nov. 8, which was funded by the Staten Island Borough President's office.

"This is a great new tool," Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said during a ceremony at Staten Island Borough Hall. "And it says a lot about Borough President Molinaro – his commitment to this borough and this City."

Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro used $273,000 from his capital budget to fund the project.

"I'm pleased we can give the Bravest the support they need and deserve," said Borough President Molinaro.

The apparatus allows members to train on a number of different skills, such as forcible entry, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and personal safety system (PSS). It is a self-contained, custom-built vehicle that will not only improve the safety of firefighters operating in the field, but also Staten Island residents.

"On behalf of all FDNY firefighters, thank you Borough President Molinaro, for this great gift," Chief of Department Edward Kilduff said. "Staten Islanders and Staten Island firefighters will be safer because of your generosity."
