Firefighters from the FDNY and the Ontario Fire Department recently participated in "Fire On Ice", a charity hockey game benefitting the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Held at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California, the event drew 2,000 fans, with many of them cheering for the Ontario Fire Department Team, a hometown favorite.

Chris Grimes, one of the OFD's fans, said, "Last year, the New York City team spanked us pretty bad, so we're hoping that it's going to be a little more evenly matched this year."

Unfortunately for Grimes and the other OFD fans, the FDNY Team beat the home team 7 to 4.  However, as Laura Fredette, another spectator who attended the game, said, "Go firefighters!  It doesn't matter what side you're on.  If you're a firefighter, you're on the right side."  This is especially true given that the game was a charity event benefitting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

The event, in its second year, was organized by Brett Brewster of the Citizens Business Bank Arena and Ontario Firefighter Rich Grimm.  Four dollars of each ticket was donated to the MDA, and after the game, a Chili Cook-Off was held, where attendees could sample chili for a dollar per taste.  All of the money from the Chili Cook-Off was donated to charity.  In total, the event raised $15,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Spectators in attendance were given a chance to meet the players after the game and receive autographed hockey items. Spencer Platka, a young fan, excitedly told FDNNTV, "I got a puck signed by #27, Drew Mulligan of the Ontario Fire Department."  All fans received free admission in to the Ontario Reign's hockey game that evening.
