Fairfax County Fire Station Roof Collapses

Many firefighters from Fairfax County, Virginia recently returned from Haiti handling numerous building collapses. Early Monday, firefighters were awakened when the roof of one of their firehouses partially collapsed under the weight of recent snowfall, according to WUSA-TV.

At about 3:00 a.m. firefighters discovered the flat roof over all four bays at Station 10 in Bailey's Crossroads had caved in, Dan Schmidt, spokesperson for Fairfax County Fire and Rescue told Channel 9. All 18 firefighters at the station were accounted for and no injuries were reported. All of them have been transfered to other stations and other stations are handling the emergency calls for that station.

At the Annandale firehouse about three miles away, officials report the roof of that station is sagging in one area, according to WUSA. The situation is being evaluated with more snow expected to fall Tuesday night into Wednesday.
