Firefighters in Defiance, Ohio had to extinguish a blaze that started in one of their own fire apparatus today. According to the Defiance Crescent-News, crews heard a loud pop and hiss in the apparatus bay then found smoke and flames coming from a truck plugged into a battery maintainer.

While some firefighters fought the blaze, others pulled out other trucks and a squad onto the street. The fire was contained to squad 210 but the intense heat caused minor damage to other vehicles, according to the newspaper.

Defiance Police Department and Defiance Municipal Court are located in the same building and were evacuated, according to the paper. The fire will be investigated by the state fire marshal's office.
