Fire Commissioner Cassano Announces Release of FDNY Strategic Plan for 2011-2013
Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano today announced the release of FDNY's fourth Strategic Plan, outlining top priorities and initiatives for the New York City Fire Department through 2013. This plan presents a group of initiatives that will move the Department forward with innovative technologies and enhanced preparedness and prevention strategies that will allow FDNY to even better serve all those who visit, live and work in New York City. "Being the greatest fire department in the world means constantly working on ways to improve," Commissioner Cassano said. "Any successful business regularly reviews its operations in order to remain effective. Our business, quite literally, is saving lives. This plan prepares us for the challenges that lay ahead to make FDNY safer, stronger and more capable than ever before." The plan focuses on five key goals:
