Nineteen early firefighting artifacts transferred from the Smithsonian's Museum of American History are featured at the Aurora Regional Fire Museum's new exhibit "Museums Un-Crated."

Join the Aurora Regional Fire Museum's staff on Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 as they share their historical knowledge of the new artifacts in their collection. Also featured at this event will be behind the scenes experiences in the designing of their new exhibit and how they acquired their new firefighting items. A virtual tour of the now dissolved CIGNA Insurance Company of North America Historical Collection and Museum will also be available. Normally "off-limits" sections of the Smithsonian will be open to view as well.

Doors will open at the Aurora Regional Fire Museum's Hayloft Theater, located at the corner of New York and Broadway in Aurora, Illinois, at 6:30 p.m. The program is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. Free parking is available behind the museum.
