The 2010 Firehouse World Expo was an extremely anticipated event this year in San Diego, California. This five day firefighting conference and exposition took place February 28th through March 4th. FDNNTV.com's Deanne Goodman reports that the Firehouse World Expo 2010 had over 350 exhibitors showing off new technology, products and services for firefighters and paramedics, and offered a multitude of classes and guest speakers for continuing education. Cygnus Expositions Group Show Manager, Mary Velline, tells FDNNTV.com, "This year is our eighth year in San Diego. We're co-located this year with the California State Firefighters Association. We're very excited to have them. With them came some new classes that all of the Firehouse World Expo attendees are able to attend." Despite the national economic downturn, there was an increase of classes and attendees this year. More than 7500 people roamed this year's expo. According to Velline, 40% of all attendees will pay to get there, including hotel, airfare, travel and conference price expenses, on their own, which she says shows an incredible amount of commitment to attendees' education and the furthering of their careers. Greg Petersen from Redlands, California, along with others, felt very fortunate to have his school pay for his conference cost. This was his first year attending and he said, "I love it down here. There's so much to see. So many vendors down here, a lot of new cutting edge items that are being taught in classes. All the venders are showing their 'Best of the Best.' It's really nice." Cygnus Expositions will also be hosting Firehouse Expo in Baltimore, Maryland from July 20th through 25th and Firehouse Central in Dallas, Texas September 27th thru October 1st. If you were not able to attend Firehouse World Expo 2010, join FDNNTV.com in the coming weeks as we highlight some of the guest speakers, products and services that were featured at this firefighting conference.
