Four Mile Fire Burns Near Boulder

The Four Mile Canyon Fire that began Monday west of Boulder, Colorado has burned approximately 7,100 acres, according to InciWeb. At 3:00 p.m. a Red Flag Warning was issued by the National Weather Service for an area that includes where the fire is currently burning. Fire officials are concerned that winds with gusts up to 50 miles per hour are anticipated this afternoon and evening.

So far, 169 residences have been destroyed and many are still threatened. Approximately 3,500 residents in 20 subdivisions remain under mandatory evacuation. According to InciWeb, some residents in areas not touched by the fire will be allowed back into their neighborhoods today for a short period of time, but will not be allowed to stay.

Currently there are 550 firefighting personnel on scene assisted by numerous air resources.

The fire is 30 percent contained and the cause remains under investigation.
