Wrong Way Driver Collides with Fuel Tanker in Vancouver
At approximately 0540 hours on Sunday, January 9th, a wrong way driver North bound on Washington Street (South bound only traffic) entered the intersection with W 15th Street and was struck by a commercial two tank fuel truck traveling West bound on W 15th Street in Vancouver. The fuel truck was damaged and had to be towed away. The fuel containers were not compromised by the collision. The Vancouver Fire Department responded and performed an extrication of the passenger who had life threatening injuries. The passenger, a 22 year old male, was transported to a local hospital for emergency surgery. The driver, 30 year old female, was taken to South West Washington Medical Center for minor injuries. The driver who is cooperating with the investigation has a suspended driver's license. Alcohol was a factor in the collision. The Vancouver Police Traffic Unit responded and has taken over the investigation. Author:Vancouver Police Department News Release
