Hillsboro Home Damaged by Gas Fed Fire
Crews from Hillsboro Fire and Rescue were dispatched to reports of a residential structure fire located at 3631 SE Ide Street at 2139 on August 26, 2011. En route they received additional reports of an explosion and 20 foot high flames from the residence. Command upgraded the incident to a 1st alarm assignment bringing additional resources to the scene.

Upon arrival, Engine 5, from Hillsboro's Parkwood Station encountered a one story wood frame residential structure with heavy fire coming from its west side exterior and attic. In addition, the fire had spread to surrounding vegetation and was threatening a second structure while being fed by a broken gas meter.

All occupants were out of the structure upon arrival and crews were able to knock down the fire within ten minutes, preventing it from causing major damage to a second home. The main residential structure sustained significant damage to its attic. Twenty Firefighters on Four Engines and one Truck from Hillsboro Fire and Rescue responded to this incident.
