Investigators Claim West Seattle Home Blaze Intentionally Set
Fire investigators say arson is to blame for a fire inside a West Seattle home. Investigators spent the day combing over the contents of a two story home after it caught fire this morning. The first 911 call came around 10:30 in the morning on June 28, 2011 regarding smoke pouring from a home located in the 7100 block of 39th Avenue SW. Engine 37 arrived first to find heavy smoke and flames shooting through a front bedroom window. Once inside, the crew found flames coming from three separate rooms in the house. Firefighters quickly attacked the fire and were able to knock it down within 15 minutes of arriving at the scene. Engine 32, 36 and 29 assisted along with Ladder Trucks 3 and 11. At one point, the flames began extending towards a house located just north of the burning home. Fire crews used a neighbor's deck to knock those flames down before the fire spread any further. No one was inside the home when firefighters arrived. Medics transported a man in his 30's with minor injuries who was found outside the home. A firefighter was transported to Harborview Medical Center with minor burns to his ear. Investigators estimate the fire caused 75 thousand dollars in structural damage and 30 thousand dollars in damage to the contents of the home. Author:Seattle Fire Department Press Release
