Four Alarm Oregon Fire Burns Farmland
The Jefferson Fire District was dispatched to a grass fire on property leased by Millrite Farms in Millersburg, Oregon Friday afternoon. Fire Chief Jon Zeilman arrived on scene to find the fire quickly escalating and called for a third and fourth alarm to bring in extra manpower and apparatus, according to a news release from the Jefferson Fire District. Firefighters from Albany, Turner and Stayton were called in to assist and provide structure protection. It took crews approximately an hour to get the fire under control. The fire burned approximately five acres of a mowed grass seed field, blackberry vines and some trees. According to the release, there was no dollar loss to the property and no injuries to report.
