Kern County Firefighters Battling West Fire
At approximately 12:15 p.m. today firefighters from Kern County Fire Department, Bureau of Land Management, and the US Forest Service responded to a report of a wildland fire. The wildfire, called the West Fire, is located in Lebec and is actively burning. Residents have been evacuated with many structures threatened by this wildfire. Evacuees are being sent to Fraizer Mountain High School. Approximately 200 firefighters are aggressively fighting this fire with the assistance from helicopters and other aircraft, including 10 Tanker, which has performed several 12,000 gallon drops of Phos-Chek.
