Jeffrey H. Reed

Firefighter Jeffrey H. Reed, a 7 year career firefighter with the Pulaski Fire Department, was operating a fire engine at the scene of a residential structure fire, when on June 6, 2009 at 0049 hours as the department was cleaning up the incident, Reed began to experience a medical issue.  He was transported to the Pulaski Community Hospital and subsequently transferred to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he passed away on June 8th.  The nature of the fatal injury is still to be determined.  The cause of the fire in the vacant residence is under investigation.

The viewing for Firefighter Reed will be held on June 11, 2009 from 1800-2100 hours and the funeral will be held on June 12, 2009 at 1100 hours at the Stevens Funeral Home, 815 Randolph Avenue, Pulaski, Virginia 24301.  Fire departments that would like to participate in the funeral procession should contact the Pulaski Fire Department at (540) 994-8662.
