Firefighter John W. Adams and other members of the Silver City Volunteer Fire Department responded to a suspected arson grass fire. At 2200 hours, nearly 12 hours after the 600 acre brush fire began, Firefighter Adams, a 5 year member of his department, collapsed and stopped breathing while he was backing his fire apparatus along the side of Highway 51. Adams was assisted by other first responders; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The funeral for Firefighter John W. Adams will be held on February 25, 2009 at 1130 hours at the 1st Baptist Church at 105 Greenwood Avenue, Mannford, Oklahoma. His family has requested that any honorariums be made in memory of Firefighter John Adams to the Silver City Volunteer Fire Department at 5550 S. 433rd West Avenue, Jennings, OK 74038. |
