Las Vegas Firefighters Benefit Association To Kick-Off Ninth Annual “Adopt-A-Bike” Program
The Las Vegas Firefighter's Benefit Association will officially kick-off the ninth annual "Adopt-A-Bike" program Tuesday morning at Fire Station 42. Most of the bikes that are donated to the firefighters for the program are usually large bikes for teens and adults, and there are more bikes needed for small children. This will be the ninth year that members of the Las Vegas Firefighter's Benefit Association have received donated bikes, repaired them, and donated them to various charities such as: the Urban League, Child Haven and the Rescue Mission. These organizations will then distribute them during the holidays to children whose families could not afford a bike. The repairs on the bikes are done by firefighters; the parts for the repairs are purchased at cost from McGhie's Bike & Board. The funding for the parts is being donated by the Las Vegas Firefighter's Benefit Association. If anyone would like to donate a gently used or new bike for the program, they can drop the bike off at any city of Las Vegas fire station. For fire station locations please call 383-2888. In the past eight years, more than 1,700 donated bikes have been given away by firefighters.
