Montclair Deputy Fire Marshal Loses Cancer Battle
Deputy Fire Marshal Timothy J. Bissett passed away Saturday from occupational cancer, according to the City of Montclair Fire Department. Bissett, 58, started with the City of Montclair as an intern in 1979 and was hired full-time by the department as a Fire Inspector in 1981. He was reclassified as a Deputy Fire Marshal in 1990. As one of the department's Arson Investigators, he worked with the Montclair Police Department on several investigations. His knowledge and experience were also very beneficial for code interpretation and plan checking, according to the department. Bissett enjoyed golf, fishing, playing poker and attending UCLA home games. Bissett is survived by his siblings, Michael, Todd, and Lori-Anne Bissett-Schleppenbach; his children, Emily Ann (27), Sarah Bissett-Martinez (24), and Jonathon (19), a USMC Lance Corporal. He is also survived by his fiancee, Susana. Bissett was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchildren, twin boys due in March. A viewing will be held Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Todd Memorial Chapel, 325 North Indian Hill Blvd, Claremont, CA 91711. A rosary will follow from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 1, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church, 9135 Banyan St, Alta Loma, CA 91737. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518. Correspondence of sympathy or condolences may be sent to Susana Okada, 4385 Roosevelt St, Chino, CA 91710.
