Multiple Agencies Respond to Santa Clara Brush Fire
Units from multiple fire agencies responded to a 5-acre brush fire in the Santa Clara river bottom near Surfer's Knoll on May 21, 2011. Crews encountered a wind driven fire in mixed brush with flame lengths up to 20 feet. Firefighters launched an aggressive attack on this fire and engines were placed to protect a structure in the city water treatment plant. A Ventura County helicopter and handcrews were used to support firefighters with extinguishment and overhaul. Units were committed to this scene for approximately seven hours.
