Multiple Agencies Respond to Santa Clara Brush Fire

Units from multiple fire agencies responded to a 5-acre brush fire in the Santa Clara river bottom near Surfer's Knoll on May 21, 2011.

Crews encountered a wind driven fire in mixed brush with flame lengths up to 20 feet. Firefighters launched an aggressive attack on this fire and engines were placed to protect a structure in the city water treatment plant.

A Ventura County helicopter and handcrews were used to support firefighters with extinguishment and overhaul. Units were committed to this scene for approximately seven hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
