Murrieta Fire Granting "Fill the Boot" Proceeds to the Firefighter Cancer Support Network
Saturday, December 17, 2011, the Murrieta Fire Department is granting the proceeds from a ‘Fill the Boot’ campaign to the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FFCSN), a non-profit organization. The ceremony begins at 0830 hours at Headquarters: 41825 Juniper St. Murrieta, CA. 951-304-3473. The firefighters have garnered the Murrieta community’s support by raising $8,000, thus far. That’s just the beginning of the story. Murrieta Firefighter/Paramedic Dean Hale was diagnosed with a form of lung cancer in the earlier part of 2011. Hale is the living inspiration for a Half-Ironman team of 13 Murrieta firefighters, including Fire Chief Matt Shobert (m.shobert@murrieta.org 951-304-3473), to compete on March 31, 2012 in Oceanside, California. Their collective, athletic objective is to raise additional contributions, which can be sent directly to the Firefighter Cancer Support network http://www.firefightercancersupportnetwork.com. The non-profit’s website offers a donation tab on the home page which directs financial supporters to the convenient and easy e-contribution portal. The Half-Ironman Team asks that in the ‘memo’ section of the e-donation, the contribution is made on behalf of the ‘Murrieta Fire Dept. Ironman’. “I’d like to thank every California fire service organization and member of the public, in advance, for their generous financial and immeasurable moral support with this truly beneficial opportunity to serve such a dedicated organization,” said Murrieta Fire Chief, Matt Shobert.
