The man who set a fire in 2009 that killed a Yonkers firefighters and injured two others, was sentenced today in White Plains, New York. Rafael Roldan, 34, will serve 20 years to life in prison for the death of Patric Joyce and the injuries of Lt. Joe Murray and William Kanych.

Roldan received his prison term today in front of many Yonkers, New York firefighters including Joyce's brothers who are both firefighters. In January, Roldan admitted that on October 2, 2009 he set fire to a three-story multi family home in the 100 block of Waverly Street as revenge for being evicted by family members.

According to Scott Tulman, Roldan's lawyer, he did not intend to hurt anyone. During an offensive interior attack, Joyce, Murray and Kanych were forced to jump from a third floor window to escape the fire. Joyce landed head-first, killing him while the other men sustained severe injuries.
