New York Firefighter Reenlists in US Marine Corps Reserves at Firehouse
When FDNY Firefighter Anthony Lombardo decided to reenlist in the US Marine Corps Reserves on the eighth anniversary of the day he entered boot camp, he wanted to make sure his family was there . Not just his mom and dad, but his firehouse family as well.

So on Dec. 1, 2011 he was sworn in on the apparatus floor of Ladder 78, his Staten Island firehouse.

"You guys are a part of my family," he said after being sworn in by his father, retired Marine Corps Colonel and Firefighter from Ladder 170. "I'm not going to let you guys down."

He said he was interested in having the ceremony at his firehouse, too, because he knew it was something that the other firefighters had never seen before and they might enjoy.

His mother, Therese Lombardo, also attended the ceremony.

"This was a great privilege and honor," Anthony Lombardo, Sr., said. "He's a great kid and a good American. I'm very proud of him."
