On Sunday, April 03, 2011 at 6:42 a.m. The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a one alarm fire at 2003 Broadway Street. First arriving units noticed heavy smoke and flames emanating out of the two-story home's first floor windows. Fire crews quickly laid out hose lines and attacked the flames which were spreading rapidly. The occupants escaped harm and were outside when firefighters arrived. Though the flames were confined to the first floor porch area, smoke, heat and water caused significant damage to the dwelling. Fortunately, the adjacent residences were not affected by the fire.

Once on the scene NOFD units were informed by Tulane University Police Officers and neighborhood residents of three smaller porch fires earlier at three separate locations on Broadway Street. 1927-29 Broadway St., 1911 Broadway St. and 1617 Broadway St. At which time the Incident Commander called for an NOFD Arson Investigator.
