Oregon Department of Forestry Reponds To McGuire Reservoir Blaze

About six miles northwest of McMinnville, near the City of McMinnville's McGuire Reservoir, Oregon Department of Forestry crews are responding to a fire burning in forestland.

Preliminary estimates indicate that the fire has burned approximately 1.5 acres. At about 4:45 Tuesday afternoon the fire was reported to the Oregon Department of Forestry.

Four fire engines from Oregon Department of Forestry's Forest Grove District responded to the fire, accompanied by 4 water tenders and 2 brush rigs. Several cooperating fire agencies are assisting this fire, including fire resources from McMinnville, Amity, Dundee and Yamhill, according to an Oregon Department of Forestry press release. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Throughout Tuesday evening, ODF personnel and firefighters from aiding agencies will be working to control the fire.

A new partnership has been formed between the University of California San Diego, CAL FIRE, and San Diego County that is helping CAL FIRE/San Diego County FIre Authority to monitor the rural areas of San Diego, California for wildfires.
