On November 20, 2010, the Pampered Pooch will be hosting a fundraiser for the Grace's Oxygen 4 Pets Project. The project's goal is two fold: 1) Raise enough funds to be able to sponsor 7 local fire departments with pet oxygen mask kits, 2) Educate the public about Pet Disaster Awareness & Readiness, pet safety, health and breed rescues. Bring Your Children! The event will be a lot of fun with exhibits, giveaways, fire trucks, etc.

Losing a pet in a house fire can be a devastating experience. As most pet owners leave their furry companions home alone when they go to work, pets are left to fend for themselves in the event of a house fire. Unlike humans looking to run out during fires, pets instinctively look for a hiding place to protect them from the fire. Generally ending up hiding under furniture, pets are exposed to more toxic fumes and for longer periods of time as fire firefighters scramble to locate them and get them out of the burning structure.

Now pets have a second chance with Pet Oxygen Masks.

A 'Rescue Alert, or a 'Save My Pets' sticker is a great first step to insure that pets get rescued however it is not enough. Too many pets each year die of smoke asphyxiation. Even if the firemen were able to get pets safely out of the burning structure, they would not be able to revive them without a pet oxygen mask. Pets need immediate care at a fire scene. Smoke inhalation does not discriminate by species!

Remember that fire departments are generally not allowed to spend tax dollars to purchase or acquire equipment not aimed at saving human lives. As a result they rely on donations to enable them to carry these pet oxygen masks in their fire trucks and rescue vehicles.

The Pampered Pooch is inviting you to be a part of the Grace's Oxygen 4 Pets Project. We encourage you to support your local Fire/EMS and Police k-9s. To help a department of your choosing receive this pet life saving equipment, please visit www.wagn4u.com/graceo2.
