Phoenix Fire Demonstrates New Lifesaving Technology

In 2009, an estimated 785,000 Americans had a new heart attack. More than three times as many adults die from heart attacks as from motor vehicle accidents.  In 2010, the Phoenix Fire Department realized a new technology was available that would reduce these numbers, but due to budget cuts did not have the resources available to purchase the equipment. A public/private partnership was formed between the Phoenix Fire Department and several valley health care providers to make this new technology a reality. As of May 1, 2011, a total of $197,000 was donated by our partners to purchase the equipment. Due to this, 100% of all Phoenix Fire Engines are being upgraded to utilize this advanced capability.

Phoenix Fire now has the ability to respond to these patients, initiate treatment, and send life saving information directly to the doctor at the hospital. This allows the hospital to be prepared to immediately begin treatment when the patient arrives at their door.

BY DOING THIS, THE PATIENT WILL BE RECEIVING DEFINITIVE TREATMENT AN AVERAGE OF 20 MINUTES FASTER!

This means lives will be saved and damage to the patient's heart will be reduced.
