Phoenix Uses Light to Identify PIO
Often there is a tenuous relationship between local fire departments and media on the scene of large incidents. The Phoenix Fire Department has added a new light to their Public Information Officer's (PIO) vehicle that will make the vehicle more visible and make it easier for the PIO to be located at large incidents. The department's PIO vehicle will have a green flashing beacon on the vehicle to identify it along with a placard on the doors designating it as a PIO vehicle. According to fire officials, during large incidents the on-duty PIO should be either in or near the vehicle. Author:Barbara Brooks - Fire Department Network News
