Firefighters in Pittsfield Township, Michigan had to use 750 gallons of water to help a beekeeper who was stung nearly 50 times in the driveway of her home Tuesday evening, according to WJBK-TV.

Antoinete Rucillo was wearing a bee suit and garden shoes when the colony of approximately 1,000 bees turned on her as she tended to the queen, according to WDIV-TV.

Capt. Greg Payeur of the Pittsfield Township Fire Department told the Detroit Free Press that when she couldn't get rid of the bees with a garden hose, she called for help.

"It's not that they even went crazy. The hive is a strong hive. It's a big hive. I think because there's so many of them, they're busy at work. It was them being productive and I was interfering with production. I never had that experience before," said Rucillo.

"It looked basically like a small black cloud," said Payeur.

Firefighters created a wall of water between themselves and the beekeeper to disperse the colony of bees so Rucillo could get away.

Despite receiving about 50 bee stings to her feet and legs, Rucillo declined transportation to the hospital.

No firefighters were injured or stung.
