Possible Weather Related Death Occurs on Christmas in El Paso

A call to 9-1-1 from a local by passer prompted fire crews to respond to a possible weather related death at 1535 Bassett Ave. at approximately 7:49 a.m., Sunday, December 25, 2011. The male was found dead on the scene without any identification. The El Paso Police Department will turn the case over to the medical examiners office for the exact cause of death. No further information has been released at this time.

As cold weather continues in the area it is important for the public to take appropriate precautions. The El Paso Fire Department would like to remind the public that blankets may be donated to the Extreme Weather Task Force at any local fire station at anytime. If you are in need of blankets or any additional assistance please dial 2-1-1. The Salvation Army located at 4300 E. Paisano is currently open and ready to assist.

The El Paso Fire Department would like to stress the importance in properly and safely staying warm during these times.
