Riverside County Wildfire Grows to 80 Acres
A wildfire that began at 1:14 p.m. Wednesday, has grown to 80 acres in the La Cresta area of Riverside County, California, according to Jody Hagemann, a spokeswoman for CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department. At this time it is 20 percent contained.

The fire began burning in heavy fuel near the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve Visitors Center on Clinton Keith Road. Currently there are 250 firefighters on scene from CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department, CAL FIRE/San Diego, and the United States Forest Service. Crews are supported by 33 engines, four water tenders, three helicopters and six air tankers. According to Hagemann, one firefighter was evaluated by paramedics for heat related illness.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has closed Clinton Keith Road in both directions at Bear Creek Road west toward the fire with only emergency vehicles being allowed into the area.

Intermittent power outages can be expected in the area, according to Hagemann.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
